Best made with fresh clams, but can be done with canned clams and bottled clam juice if fresh are not available.

Sometimes I add carrots. I have also made this recipe up until the tomato addition, omitted the tomatoes and instead added light cream and made New England Clam Chowder adding a little flour to thicken. Enjoy!
Ingredients | Best Clam Chowder Recipe8 slices bacon1 cup chopped onion1 cup chopped celery7 cups clam juice3 (28 ounce) cans stewed tomatoes5 tablespoons dried thyme2 (6.5 ounce) cans minced clamsDirectionsIn a large pot over medium heat, cook bacon until crisp. Remove and crumble. Return to pot with onion and celery and cook until onion is translucent. Stir in clam juice and tomatoes. Season with thyme and pour in clams.
